SPECIALTY CARE TRANSPORT UNIT

Our Specialty Care Transport Unit provides emergency transports with advanced life support (ALS) capabilities for patients being transfered to other hospitals for procedures not available locally. In addition to transporting critical patients, our Specialty Care Transport Unit also assists our Mobile Intensive Care Units (Paramedics) in providing "911" pre-hospital advanced life support (ALS) care during high volume periods, when not scheduled for a transport assignment.

Specialty care transport teams consist of Mobile Intensive Care Nurses and Paramedics, with specialized equipment and capabilities not normally found on a non-emergency transport ambulance. These Mobile Intensive Care Nurses and Paramedics are certified by the New Jersey Dept. of Health and Senior Services to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) and are required to complete and maintain the same continuing education programs and certifications as our "911" Paramedics, with additional training specific to equipment and procedures they may encounter when transporting critical patients.
